06LeadershipHow I lead

The operating system.

Servant leadership

The job is removing obstacles so the team can do its best work. People I have led describe feeling genuinely supported, not managed.

Mentoring at the core

Built and ran a PMO Community of Practice and mentored consultants into full-time roles. Watching people grow beats being the one in front.

Candid accountability

Direct feedback, high bar, delivered with tact. When I push, it is because I believe in someone, and teams learn to trust that quickly.

Calm under pressure

Difficult client or program at risk, the goal is to be the steadiest person in the room. Teams follow a calm leader further than an anxious one.

Cultures people choose

The best teams were not just delivering. They were innovating and enjoying the work together. That is cultivated, not accidental.

Humor that helps

Not taking myself too seriously makes it easier for people to bring me hard problems early, before they become crises.

07Off the clockBeyond the resume
Nathan Bowlin with his family in the Arizona desert
The person behind the programs

Devoted husband and father of three, with two very energetic dogs. Born and raised in Arizona, my career ran through Virginia, California, and North Carolina before leading back home to the Valley, where we spend as much time outdoors as Phoenix allows: off-roading, exploring, and cheering on the Dodgers.

Some of the best work happens off the clock. Networking, mentoring a colleague, or making the introduction that changes someone's path is not a side activity. It is core to how I lead.
